I don't know where or when the Abyssinian cat first came in to my mind. I didn't just think "I think I'll get a cat of some registered breed" and go through different breeds. You could almost say that Abyssinians just snuck in to my heart. From the very beginning, it was clear to me that would become a breeder. The whole process of a cat's pregnancy and taking care of the kittens fascinated me very much.
I got my first Abyssinian in 1999. She was a
ruddy female Satukissan
Yöailakki "Honey". I got a registered cattery name in 2000,
but sadly little Honey became ill and became an angel cat
before the age of two. After that, I couldn't even dream of having
another aby, all ruddy Abyssinians just reminded me of the loss of that sweet
little thing.
But memories changed from sad to happy and my
feelings of loss faded in to the background - behind a growing feeling
that something was missing in my home and that void should be filled again. In
2005 february my wait was over and FIN*Nebuankhet Fareshta Fii
"Salsa", a ruddy Abyssinian female, moved in to live with us.
All
Bastian's cats live in a home environment as pets. They are not
be isolated or caged. For me, the most important thing is to have them be a part of
every day life.
In the book NeverEnding Storys, a young boy called Bastian goes in to a fairy land through a book. He awakes a tale that is almost lost in time. In every life, there is a gentle mythical touch, if you know how to appreciate the small details of life. Those details make life worth living, and living joyful. My world sparkles like a legendary fairy tale. Not because the leading character is someone big and mighty. But the storyteller of this tale knows how to color this day and she can see every shade of those colors. If you can do that, you know what I mean, when I say that my cattery name is an homage to the strength of the imagination.
The Abyssinian with its mystical origin is a tale in itself. The beginning of that tale is Bastian's cattery from where those
mythical cats come.
In those cats' eyes, shine the
arabian golden nights and from their fur glows the dawn's first sunbeam.
